Reference Number:  , Press Release Issue Date: Mar 14, 2017
Ms Sephora Gauci, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malta in Germany, met a group of university students from the Freie University of Berlin who will be representing Malta in the world’s largest simulation conference of the United Nations, the "New York Model UN", which will be held 19-23 March 2017 in New York. The students will be simulating the roles of Maltese delegates in various UN committees and agencies, including  UNEA (United Nations Environment Assembly), the first, second and third committees of the General Assembly, IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) and WHO (World Health Organisation).

The aim of the meeting with a representative of the Maltese Embassy, which was requested by the University, was to help the students prepare themselves better for when they represent Malta in this event later on this month. Ms Gauci delivered a lecture during which she presented Malta’s EU Council Presidency priorities and spoke about Malta’s economy, Maltese-German relations, Malta’s foreign policy objectives and Malta’s role in the UN as well as an EU member. The students subsequently had the opportunity to further discuss Maltese national, regional and international policies during a question-and-answer session.
