AMBASSADOR GODWIN MONTANARO was born in 1948 and educated at St. Edward’s College. He commenced his professional career in the travel and tourism industry in 1969 when he joined Malta Airlines. Over the years he has held various management positions in both business and tourism sectors.
 
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004 and held the rank of Ambassador. In 2005 he was appointed resident Ambassador of Malta to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and non-resident Ambassador to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Yemen.
 
In 2010 he was appointed resident Ambassador of Malta to the Republic of Poland and non-resident Ambassador to Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. Ambassador Montanaro was awarded the Pro Patria medal.
