16th Edition of the Trophée Bailli de Suffren Classic Sailing Yacht Regatta from St Tropez to Malta

The 16th edition of the Trophée Bailli de Suffren classic yacht race departed from St Tropez in the south of France to Malta on 24th June 2017.  Eleven classic yachts participated in this year’s edition of the race.  Before the departure a ceremony was held to honour the Bailli de Suffren, Admiral of France and Knight of Malta who hailed from St Tropez. The yachts were blessed by Fr Jean-Paul Gouardin, Parish Priest of Saint Tropez.

On the eve of the departure all the participants attended a formal dinner held on the main quay of Saint Tropez, under the patronage of the Mayor of St Tropez Mr Jean-Pierre Tuveri, Ms Maud Fontenoy, Vice President of the region of Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur (PACA), H.E. Mr Patrick Mifsud, Ambassador of Malta to France, and the Vice Admiral of France’s Mediterranean Fleet Charles-Henri de La Faverie du Ché. MTA France, a founding member and a sponsor of the event was represented by Dominic Micallef, Director of the MTA Office in Paris. Yachting Malta was also present and was represented by Mr Mark Napier, Board Director.

The yachts sailed from St Tropez to Porto Rotondo (Sardinia) and Trapani (Sicily) before reaching Mgarr Harbour in Gozo, followed by a prize-giving ceremony at the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
