Presentation of Credentials in Sudan

HE Charles Sultana, Malta’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, presented his credentials as non-resident Ambassador to Sudan, to HE Omar Hassan Ahmad el Bashir, President of the Republic of Sudan, in a ceremony held in Khartoum on 13th February. During the ceremony discussions centred on how to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields including political, economic, education, health as well as the possibility of holding discussions on the issue of migration. The two sides discussed the current political situation in the Mediterranean and the Middle East whilst Ambassador Sultana also briefed President Bashir on Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The previous day, the 12th of February, Ambassador Sultana had a meeting with the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Prof. Ghandour Ibrahim Ahmed, during which he presented him with his Copie d’Usage. Ambassador Sultana expressed his pleasure on his appointment as Malta’s Ambassador to Sudan and assured the Minister that Malta looks forward to strengthen its relations with his country. Minister Ghandour recalled his visit to Malta for the Valletta Summit in 2015 and thanked the Maltese Government for its hospitality on that occasion. The two then discussed several subjects, including Malta’s Presidency of the EU Council.
