Austrian Secondary School Students visit the Embassy of Malta in Vienna

On the 18th December, 21 students from the Franciscan New Secondary School of Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria, visited the Embassy of Malta in Vienna, to familiarise themselves with Malta, its history and its culture and the work of an Embassy.  Fourteen of these students will then participate in a language course in Malta during 2020.

The group was welcomed by H. E Ambassador Natasha Meli Daudey who briefed the students on the importance of Vienna as seat of international and regional oganisations, and how the Embassy of Malta works with these multilateral organizations to secure national and international benefits. The Ambassador also explained the bilateral nature of the Embassy’s work in strengthening its relations with Austria.

Counsellor Ms. Alberta Borg briefed the group on the importance of consular work with its Maltese Nationals in Austria, especially when dealing with crises or emergency situations.

Mr. Joseph Debono gave an interactive presentation on Malta as a bridge builder between Europe and Africa and gave a short overview of the bustling business community. The students learned about the rich history of the Maltese Islands to be in a better position to understand the flourishing economy of Malta and the relevance of Malta as a small and successful island state.
