Malta Day UK 2018

On 8 September 2018, Malta Day was once again celebrated in London. This event, which in its 14th year, has become the leading feature in the calendar of Maltese communities and individuals in the UK.  A large number of Maltese and their families and friends travelled from all over the UK to attend Malta Day UK 2018.

The High Commissioner Joseph Cole officially opened a Maltese Fair held in the morning at Westminster Cathedral Hall, and visited various stalls selling Maltese food and beverages. He met a large number of Maltese living in the UK. In the afternoon, Archbishop Emeritus Mgr. Paul Cremona led the concelebration of Solemn Mass at Westminster Cathedral. Gaulitanus Choir, under the direction of Colin Attard, performed psalms and hymns during this service. High Commissioner Joseph Cole welcomed the Lord Mayor Locum Tenens of Westminster, the clergy, ministers and Maltese religious sisters, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre amongst the congregation. In his address, the High Commissioner encouraged all the Maltese living in the UK to keep Maltese faith and heritage alive. The day’s events came to a close with a Gala Dinner at The Churchill, Hyatt Regency Hotel.
