High Commissioner Cole addresses the Commonwealth Diplomats Induction Programme

On 18 September, HE Joseph Cole, High Commissioner of Malta, addressed participants at the Commonwealth Diplomats Induction Programme at Marlborough House, Commonwealth Secretariat, during the opening session, together with the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland, QC, Commonwealth Secretary-General and Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, UK Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN.

During his address, High Commissioner Cole shared his own experiences as a participant in this programme 20 years ago and what he had learnt and applied in his career which ensued. He remarked on the different aspects of diplomacy and the significant role diplomats play in relations between states. His address was followed by a very engaging Q&A session.

The Commonwealth Diplomats Induction Programme, which is held annually over three days, is open to diplomats from all the Commonwealth countries. Malta was represented by Charles Calleja, from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion.

This programme has been jointly organised by the three intergovernmental organisations of the Commonwealth: the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Commonwealth Foundation and the Commonwealth of Learning.
