Berlin reception on the occasion of the ITB 2017 tourism fair

Ambassador Dr Albert Friggieri and Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) chairman Dr Gavin Gulia hosted a reception on the occasion of Malta’s participation in this year’s ITB fair in Berlin. ITB is the world’s largest tourism trade fair. Malta was once again represented at the fair with a very attractive stand. 

MTA delegates, including the CEO Mr Paul Bugeja, the authority’s director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland Mr Peter Cauchi, representatives of official entities and private enterprises from Malta and Germany, trade journalists, friends of Malta as well as students from the Institute for Tourism, Travel and Culture of the University of Malta, led by lecturer Dr Alfred Quintano, attended the reception, which was held at the Maritim Hotel in Berlin.

After welcoming the guests, in a short speech Ambassador Friggieri referred to Malta’s European Union Council Presidency and the various cultural events being organized in connection with the presidency which are helping to promote Malta, also as a destination for tourists. MTA chairman Dr Gavin Gulia emphasised the significance of the Maltese tourism industry and the major strides that it has made in the past years.  The guests were given a taste of Maltese cuisine and some Berlin specialties prepared by the Berlin Maritim chefs.
